Position Overview:

The Private Debt Product Strategy team is responsible for representing our range of private debt investment strategies to clients and internal partners. BlackRock Private Debt is seeking to hire a product strategist to support our Multi-Strategy Debt Solutions (MDS) business, a strategic growth initiative for the firm. This product strategist will be responsible for driving business growth related to our alternative credit products and, in particular, our growing IG private debt strategies and multi-strategy insurance solutions business. S/he will be expected to be a commercial partner to key stakeholders and facilitate connectivity between clients / prospects, investment teams, distribution, and operational teams. The product strategist will have a proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, work across multiple initiatives, and develop a strong fluency in private debt markets, strategies, and vehicles in partnership with PMs and clients.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with private debt investment teams (portfolio managers) and sales team to analyze the institutional and retail product platform and define opportunities for product development via adjacent strategies / geographies, new ventures, and custom solutions

• Develop internal evaluations and commercialization of new investment strategies and subsequent client offerings in close partnership with a variety of internal and external teams, including defining the market opportunity, understanding competitive landscape, creating and refining BlackRock’s investment narrative, development of offering materials and marketing collateral

• Manage the fundraising efforts globally, with a special focus on insurers, by developing roadmaps, chairing sales pipeline discussions, and collaborating with internal teams to create collateral and thought leadership pieces

• Engage with clients to develop bespoke IG, pan-IG, and multi-strategy debt solutions, including structuring the relevant access points and designing the necessary investment and operational processes to support these mandates across their full lifecycle

• Position and prioritize product suite. Serve as a point of contact and client facing strategist to address questions from the internal sales force, existing clients, and prospects

• Coordinate with internal business teams (legal, tax, business management, fund administration, operations, and risk groups) on new product development, custom solutions, and other offerings

• Coordinate with distribution partners on the engagement of existing and prospective clients and cross marketing opportunities

Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree from top undergraduate institution, with strong quantitative and qualitative skills; CFA/CAIA/MBA a plus

• Minimum 5 years professional work experience in the financial services sector with Private Debt and Alternatives industry specific knowledge a plus

• Experience in product development with a focus on commingled and single-investor private fund structures, including legal and tax considerations as well as investor and operational support models

• Investment and markets background, ideally with experience in credit, closed-end private equity-style products for global investors

• Ability to develop strong and trusting relationships with both internal and external clients swiftly and effectively

• Ability to clearly communicate objectives across a range of stakeholders, including senior management and to articulate the rationale behind those goals

• Results driven individual with a high level of attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time in a time pressured environment

• Strong cross-functional team building and management skills (for example, partnering with multiple distribution channels, marketing, product administration, legal and compliance)

• Leadership – ability to influence, inspire people, while also working in a collaborative team culture

• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate sophisticated concepts and ideas

• Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills are essential

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $147,500 – $209,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
