We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Single Lead Employer (SLE) Division, as we continue to expand the services we offer the NHS in Wales. The SLE Division is an innovative and new approach to providing all junior doctors, trainee dentists, pharmacists etc, which the opportunity for continuity of employment throughout the whole of their training journey in Wales.

This is a broad role and you will work closely with the Medical Director, the People and OD Senior Management Team, NHS Wales organisations, Welsh Government, the British Medical Association, Commercial Pharmacy and Commercial Dental colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You'll assume full operational responsibility for the Single Lead Division including business management, governance, risk and finance while supporting the management team in relation to their individual portfolios.

You'll represent NWSSP at local and national meetings in relation to Medical and Dental Trainees across Wales. You'll provide a high degree of certainty to the planning ambitions of the Division overseeing the compilation, implementation and achievement of the division's Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMTP).

You'll be comfortable working at pace and in a constantly changing and challenging environment and be able to demonstrate success in the coaching and development of staff. You will be a strong negotiator and be confident working alongside Senior colleagues from across the Public Sector.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

• Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience at senior management level incorporating strategic and operational management

• In depth knowledge of strategic healthcare agenda relating to service delivery.

• Knowledge of the duties imposed on the Health Board by employment law, other legislation, NHS policy and priorities, the requirements of corporate and clinical governance and of the inspection and regulation environment in which the Health Board operates.

Desirable

• MCIPD or other relevant professional qualification

• Medical Workforce experience

Experience

Essential

• Significant experience of managing staff and working with Trade Unions/staff representatives.

• Significant experience and capabilities in financial management and possess knowledge of how to deliver a budget to a target.

• Experience of delivering projects and in particular managing scope and delivering against agreed objectives to quality, cost and time.

Desirable

• Experience of working within a multi-agency environment.

Essential

• Proven leadership qualities able to guide staff through a service improvement journey, bringing a degree of credibility to the planning ambitions of the team

• Target driven, able to work under pressure and deliver on objectives within a challenging environment.

• Responsive to the needs of the service and those of individual Trainees their families who are dependent on the services provided but the Health Board.

Desirable

• Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
