The Investor Coverage/Business Development Team is responsible for supporting the team in building and managing relationships with the premier investors in the ecosystem and supporting their portfolio companies. This includes establishing and driving new business opportunities, introducing new products across a portfolio of companies, and collaborating with the broader Innovation Banking team and HSBC to deliver value to our clients and partners.

Here’s what you can expect:

As our Director of Investor Coverage and Business Development, you will build and foster relationships with key allocators who are investing in the most significant companies each year.  You will deliver the full HSBC platform to these investors and their portfolio companies, with the goal of driving new client acquisition and market-share across these firms. You will have strong relationship development skills and be very familiar with the “business” of venture capital and investing in private, early-stage companies. You’ll also be considered a thought partner and trusted advisor to the investors you work with, which ultimately leads to increased client wallet share across their portfolios.

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $250,000 and $350,000.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Track record of building & developing relationships with investors, founders and other key stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem. 
  •      Commercial banking, investing and/or technology/life sciences sector experience
  •      A deep understanding of the innovation economy and the needs of venture capital, technology and life sciences companies
  •      Excellent knowledge of banking and financial products.
  •      Proven record of proactively originating and executing on new business initiatives.
  •       Enhancing and contributing to our business and operational plans for this segment.  The ability to tell a compelling story, with data to back it up, will be essential.
  •       Building effective internal networks within the HSBC Innovation Banking platform to enable full success in the role.
