AZRA is a specialty niche reinsurer, domiciled in California and licensed as an admitted insurer in 36 states (including District of Columbia), and is a qualified, accredited, or approved reinsurer in fifteen states. AZRA is a property casualty reinsurer which writes both prospective and legacy reinsurance.

AZRA has specific expertise in run-off management of U.S. legacy insurance liabilities. It services Allianz Group affiliates and third parties including third party claims administration of asbestos, environmental, workers compensation, general liability, and construction defect liabilities. AZRA has approximately 150 employees located nationwide with the majority working on a remote basis. AZRA is rated “AA-“by Standard & Poor’s. As of December 31, 2022, AZRA had total admitted assets of USD $2.3 billion and policyholders’ surplus of $232 million.

The Underwriting Analyst supports the underwriting function with day-to-day processes and activities while working with underwriters to effectively manage workload and establish priorities. Under direction and guidance, responsible for underwriting analysis, reporting and supporting underwriters with assembly of due diligence and technical opinions. Properly label & file underwriting documentation to ensure integrity of all underwriting files. Coordinate closely with Claims, Operations and Finance in support of underwriting, pricing and operational activities.

What you do:

• Analysis & Opinion Development:

o Support Underwriters in assembly of analysis of loss portfolio transfers and reinsurance treaty submissions.

o Assist with management of workload and prioritization across underwriting team.

o Support maintenance of internal actuarial and underwriting tools.

• Due Diligence:

o Coordinate with Underwriters, Claims Adjusters, and operations to gather information in support of due diligence and underwriting support for other entities within Allianz SE.

o Support and assist with due diligence and file reviews at counter-party locations.

• Partner Coordination:

o Facilitate and coordinate activities to support alignment of Capital and Accounting treatment with finance.

o Support and assist with technical analysis within global underwriting function.

Minimum Requirements:

• 4-5 years of experience required; Insurance/Reinsurance related companies, with demonstrated experience leading projects and successfully coordinating across departments and business functions.

• Four-year degree required in Mathematics, Finance, Business or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Experience in the US Workers Comp, General Liability, Construction Defect, Professional Liability and Property exposures preferred.

Job may require periods of stooping, bending, sitting or standing.  Limited domestic and/or international travel may occur.

Base Salary Range $64,000 - $98,000 

Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.
