An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a brand new nursing service to Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust- The Brighton and Hove Overnight Nursing Service.

The post holder will provide operational leadership, with some clinical supervision requirements to the nursing teams providing this service.

The post-holder will be instrumental in the successful mobilization and development of this service and will use their fine-tuned leadership skills to lead and develop a successful and robust overnight nursing service which will cover the hours of 8pm-8am Monday-Sunday.

There will be a requirement of flexible working with some hours to be worked during office hours and a requirement to work some shifts alongside the service in order to provide supervision and other staff management procedures.

Main duties of the job

The Operational Team Lead is responsible for the operational leadership and coordination of the team. The post holder will have a lead role in supporting development and delivery of practice standards within the Overnight Service across Brighton & Hove. This will include operational leadership to the overnight nursing team to ensure an integrated model of care is delivered.

The Team Lead will be responsible for day-to-day management of the team in relation to activity generated as a result of referrals being made to the Overnight Service to ensure service outcomes and performance indicators are met.

The Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring the delivering of high quality of care within the community setting working with patients proactively to enable and promote self-management and independence throughout the continuum of care.

Job responsibilities

• To provide Operational and Clinical leadership to the team to ensure a motivated and dedicated workforce.

• To lead an effective, cost-efficient out- of-hours nursing service across Brighton and Hove.

• To develop a coordinated, professional clinical team ensuring that communication and engagement are key to the development of the service.

• To manage the defined area with minimal supervision for daily operations, seeking support and guidance from the clinical service manager as required.

• To be responsible for the clinical development of the teams and delivery of a consistently high-quality service, promoting the team as a positive place for staff experience and development.

• To contribute to the Sussex Community NHS Trust agenda as a member of the management team for community services within a defined area.

• To work within organisational and other NHS and Government policies and interpret and facilitate how they are implemented within a defined area.

• To advise the Clinical Services Manager/General Manager as appropriate on the operational implementation of policies forward visioning and developing the service at all times.

Person Specification

Qualifications and/or Professional Registration

• Registered nurse with NMC PIN

• Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to underpin clinical reasoning skills and ability to undertake assessment, analysis and treatment

• Relevant Post Graduate modules / qualification

• Management qualification or willingness to undertake

Experience

• Extensive clinical experience

• Case management experience

• Evidence of up-to-date based knowledge and skills

• Experience of working Knowledge within Community NHS Services

• Evidence of ability to maintain and monitor high standards of care

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

• Evidence of ability to direct and co-ordinate programmes of care working autonomously and collaboratively

• Ability to analyse complex situations and problems and solve as necessary

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience of team dynamics/ leadership role

• Evidence of ability to work with a multidisciplinary team

• Evidence of knowledge and experience of working between Acute and Primary Care settings

• Evidence of working in partnership and collaboration with other professionals

• Evidence of effective team leadership and organisational skills

• Evidence of advanced communication skills, able to understand blocks to communication and ways of developing strategies to overcome these

• IT literate or willing to achieve within an agreed period

• Demonstrate a high level of understanding of self and able to identify personal limitation and shows openness to address them

• Physical assessment qualification

• oIndependent or supplementary prescribing medication review and administration
