National Economic Research Associates, Inc. is seeking candidates for the following position based in Washington, DC (Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite in accordance with Company policy):

Senior Consultant

We will count on you to:

Develop and implement allocation mechanisms, such as auctions and trading, while crafting bidding strategies for various industries, including telecommunications, energy, procurement, and transport. Apply economic theory and market design principles to provide support for international arbitration, competition, pricing, regulatory, and public policy issues. Provide policy advice and support related to market design matters in various industries. Conduct analyses applying experimental economics and causal inference. Offer consultation regarding litigation, regulatory and policy matters to clients in the high-tech, telecommunications and mining sectors and the renewable energy space; draft expert reports. Perform research and analysis focused on quantitative methods that relate to digital economy, energy and telecommunications sectors. Participate in business development efforts. Plan, direct, and supervise the work performed by more junior staff. Present and publish on diverse subjects, such as causal inference, auctions, online two-sided markets, and spectrum management and allocation. This position has no dedicated full-time direct reports but will plan, direct and supervise the work performed by approximately 6 junior staff on a project-by-project basis.

What you need to have:

Requires a PhD degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, and at least one (1) year of experience in the job offered, as a Consultant, Research Scientist, or in a related occupation. One (1) year of experience must include: Experimental Design and Causal Inference; Finite Strategic-Form and Extensive-Form Games, including the analytical and numerical calculation of Nash Equilibria; Finite Bayesian Games including the analytical and numerical calculation of Nash Equilibria; Auctions including the calculation of Vickrey-Clarke-Groves, Core prices, and Sealed-Bids; Demand Estimation, Machine Learning, and A/B Testing; Working with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques including regression and clustering; Conducting Policy Research and drafting White Papers; Working with Web3 governance mechanisms, proof of work, and proof of stake consensus mechanisms; Working with R, Python, or Julia for general scripting.
