Sr. Manager, Biomarker Scientist

This position is to develop biomarker strategies as an integral member of project teams for programs within SPARC.  This is a critical requirement to assess target engagement for NCEs for programs, in the preclinical stages leading to clinical utilization and development. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for biomarkers within SPARC, and will be responsible for interaction with preclinical lab teams in biomarker method development and validation.

The Senior Manager, Biomarker Scientist will serve as a biomarker SME within SPARC / SUN.  The candidate will help form and develop a team involved in biomarker utilization analysis and work closely with preclinical pharmacology and biology teams to support drug development projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences is required
• Multidisciplinary scientific background with sound understanding of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, and cell biology is necessary
• Greater than 10 years of experience in preclinical & clinical translational research, biomarker development and companion diagnostics, of which 5 years must be in drug or diagnostic biomarker development
• Prior work in oncology, immuno-inflammation and/or neurology highly desirable
• Diverse therapeutic area experience highly desirable
• Knowledge of “fit-for-purpose” and “context of use” biomarker principles applied to various modalities, e.g., soluble, pathological, genetic, imaging
• Expertise in biomarker discovery & validation, assay development, genomics, sample collection and management, translational strategy development and implementation in drug development, and project management
