The Visa Economic Empowerment Institute (VEEI) is a global research and policy center that aims to address the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation for everyone, everywhere. The VEEI conducts rigorous research, engages with policymakers and practitioners, and develops solutions to advance economic empowerment and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage analysts to produce high-quality research outputs on topics related to digital transformation, financial inclusion, and economic development.
  • Support the development and implement a research agenda and strategy that aligns with the VEEI's objectives.
  • Oversee the design, execution, and dissemination of research projects, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of academic rigor, and policy relevance.
  • Contribute to the VEEI's organizational development and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the payment policy environment.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Flexible, positive and results-oriented attitude works well with changing timelines and priorities and can proactively manage up. Works with a sense of urgency and makes efforts to motivate others towards common goals
• Experience leading research projects from ideation phase to final publication
• Ability to create and present new knowledge independently, as part of a cross-functional team, or by managing an external consultant
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
• Proficiency with quantitative research methods
• Familiarity with data visualization software
• Knowledge of financial services, digital payments, regulation and public policy
• Demonstrated ability to gather and synthesize complex information, make sound tactical decisions, and communicate such information in a clear, simple way to a variety of audiences, ranging from senior executives to junior employees
• A strong expertise and knowledge of the issues and challenges related to digital transformation, financial inclusion, and economic development, especially in emerging and developing markets.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
• Life-long learner with a passion for tacking complex challenges
• Business acumen and the ability to navigate a corporate environment
• International experience strongly preferred

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 163,800.00 to 237,550.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
