Summary / Role Purpose

The System Engineer role will be to help manage and support our existing Windows Server Infrastructure and Active directory environment. The role will be instrumental in delivering Windows Standard Operating Environment, playing a pivotal role in the infrastructure, engineering applications, cutting-edge automation, and monitoring tools. The Windows Systems Engineer may, from time to time, be part of corporate IT projects in accordance with team goals and objectives. This role will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with the business and driving tasks related to local requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deploy new and rebuild existing Window Servers, and maintain configuration procedures

• Implement lifecycle management strategies for core Windows Infrastructure 

• Implement and support multi-site Active Directory environment

• Troubleshoot technical issues related to Windows Servers and Active Directory environment

• Perform system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of server resources and key processes

• Manage & perform troubleshooting of issues related to core windows services like DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS and Print Services 

• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Group Policies

• Analyze current Active Directory environment to identify both technical and operational challenges and develop continuous improvement of action plans

• Accountable for maintaining server and security configurations in compliance with established best practices 

• Understand local customer needs and develop solutions to address them 

• Review Windows Server Event Logs and perform root-cause analysis 

• Develop PowerShell scripts for automation of operational processes, where appropriate

• Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required

• Maintain documentation of domain technologies including installation, configuration and appropriate troubleshooting steps 

• Establish and maintain relationships with business, third-party and vendors 

• Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery wherever possible

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline

• 2-5 years of working experience on Windows (preferably as a Windows System Administrator)

• Experience in building and managing Windows Servers in enterprise environments 

• Must have experience managing Active Directory environment including OUs, Group Policies, AD security and permissions, AD attributes, LDAP queries, AD Sites, and other AD-related services

• Experience configuring and administering Windows services such as DNS, DHCP, DFS, Patch Management, etc.      

• Must have experience automating tasks and procedures using PowerShell scripting

• Knowledge on PowerShell scripting

• Experience with performance monitoring tools

• Experience working with virtual infrastructure like VMWare ESXi

• Good understanding of a broad spectrum of infrastructure technologies and secure computing environments like Network, Storage and Database

• Good understanding of ITIL processes

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Microsoft Certifications

• Experience with ticketing platforms like ServiceNow

• Experience working on and troubleshooting Dell Server hardware 

• Experience on racking and stacking and other Data Center operations 

• Understanding of agile methodologies like Kanban 

• Working experience on SSL Certificate Management

• Good task and time management skills 

• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently 

• Effective planning and organizational skills 

• Aptitude for fostering positive relationships
