The impact you will make:

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Sr. Manager/Associate Director to join our growing Patient Access & Reimbursement Support (PARS) team. We are seeking a candidate who cares about this important work, and who’s driven to connect to our mission of helping patient communities. The Sr. Manager/Associate Director will be responsible for leading PARS specific launch activities and providing strategic support to the Sr. Director, PARS. The person in this critical role will help enhance the current support service program for PYRUKYND® (Mitapivat tablets), while shaping the execution and enhancements to the support service model for pipeline product(s).

Agios is seeking a dynamic, energetic, thoughtful, innovative and genuinely patient-focused team member to lead the building of future capabilities of PARS. The successful candidate will be a strong collaborator and be able to work effectively with and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders throughout the organization. This position will have high visibility to the launch team, commercial leadership team as well as exposure to internal growth opportunities.

What you will do:

  • Lead the launch readiness reviews and tactical plans for PARS by collaborating closely with cross-functional team members to develop the overall commercial launch plan and ensure alignment across functions on overall strategy.
  • Prioritize, develop and implement promotional and education tactics, including market research or advisory boards, to drive awareness of Agios’ support services offerings and team members with both patients and HCP audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external thought leaders and patient advocates to support the development of a patient and customer engagement plan.
  • Manage the agency of record for all promotional and non-promotional tactics related to patient access support, including tools/website in collaboration with payer or brand marketing leads.
  • Manage overall program budget and works on identifying key metrics to measure effectiveness of launch tactics.
  • Primarily responsible for assisting Sr. Director in the design, enhancement and oversight of continuous improvement initiatives supporting the service model for patient support operations.
  • Ensure all patient support activities are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidance and aligned with Agios’ policies and procedures in collaboration with the Sr. Director/Director of PARS and Agios Legal & Compliance

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or business-related field required; advanced degree (MBA) a plus.
  • A minimum of 7 years of work experience in patient support services, marketing or related functions.
  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of people and functions.
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage both at the strategic and tactical levels, including demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple vendors providing services intended to improve the patient experience.
  • Prior work experience with internal, and external teams, reimbursement and patient support operations supporting rare disease populations.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment generally under little supervision, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior verbal, written and presentation skills to effectively convey strategic and technical information/issues to executives and broader organization team members; ability to translate complex topics into clear points that can be understood by broad audiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading with strong business acumen and a compliance mindset.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% per calendar year for meetings, conferences, market research and business review(s). 
  • High level of commitment and strong sense of accountability.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, addressing short-term needs while maintaining a focus on long-term strategies.
  • Rare Disease experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of US payer coverage and reimbursement environment, CMS policies pertaining to access services as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and pharmaceutical channel dynamics preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulations and laws governing the protection of Personal Health Information (PHI) preferred.
  • Experience with translation services for printed/digital resources preferred.

Work Location:

Location Agnostic: Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description.
