We are seeking a Corporate Vice President, Head of Corporate Editorial and Channels, to join our team. The person in this role will lead the editorial strategy across a variety of channels and play a pivotal role in shaping the story told to New York Life’s internal and external audiences. They will also be pivotal in guiding the evolution of our internal digital communication capabilities, managing a suite of communication and collaboration tools that connect our employees and support their day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker with a strong background in editorial strategy, digital communications and channel management, and have a passion for enhancing employee engagement through effective technology solutions and storytelling.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the team that provides editorial strategy, planning and execution across a variety of internal and external communication channels, including the company’s employee intranet, newsroom, and corporate reports and publications.
- Facilitate collaboration with business leads, communications colleagues and other business partners to tell New York Life’s story to internal and external audiences through content strategies that help achieve business goals.
- Oversee processes and procedures that consider stakeholder engagement and relevant approvals.
- In close partnership with Technology, lead the evolution of our internal digital communication channels, ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse workforce; enhance employee engagement, collaboration and productivity; and align with organizational goals.
- Lead communication channel optimization strategy, including determining roadmap priorities based on business objectives and performance metrics, and ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
- Oversee the team that provides daily management and governance of enterprise communication channels, including the employee intranet, digital signage and broadcast email, and that partners with lines of business and functions to optimize their employees’ digital engagement.
- Make recommendations, provide counsel and develop strategies to enhance the experience of audiences engaging with New York Life’s content and channels based on an understanding of the business strategy, stakeholder needs, communication best practices and industry trends.
- Apply data-based insights to decision-making.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues in Corporate Communications, Technology, HR, Marketing, and Multimedia and Design, and vendors and suppliers, ensuring alignment and collaboration to deliver on business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of relevant experience, including leading an editorial strategy and managing and optimizing digital communication tools and platforms.
- Exceptional track record of developing and implementing successful corporate communication strategies.
- Expert client relationship manager, with experience providing counsel to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with successful experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
- Proven track record managing people and developing effective teams.
- Strategic thinker with excellent writing, listening, presentation and communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of content management systems, email platforms and digital signage platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to navigate a complex organization and operate within ambiguity.
- Hybrid environment: Office Tuesday through Thursday, working from home Mondays and Fridays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Fortune 100 or large-scale corporate environment.
- Knowledge of emerging digital communication technologies and trends.
- Knowledge of Interact (intranet) and Staffbase a plus.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $175,000-$237,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
