Area Vice President - Hospice Services - North Carolina

Job Purpose:

The Area Vice President will oversee the operational functions of PruittHealth Hospice Division for Coastal North region. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining budgetary requirement, compliance with regulatory agencies, human resources management, office management, information systems, and the planning and coordination of Hospice services. When variations exist, the Area Vice President will initiate corrective actions such as strategic business decisions and will monitor performance compared to company financial, clinical, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1.      Coordinates the Administrators to develop short term and long-term strategic goals that support the PruittHealth Mission and Vision statements.

2.      Keeps the Senior Vice President of Community Services informed about business activities, potential threats, opportunities and recommended actions.

3.      Attend meetings on behalf of the Chief Operations Officer and relay any necessary information for follow up.

4.      Ensures that all the Region’s locations use the quality assurance/performance improvement process to meet established goals.

5.      Responsible for meeting the financial goals of the Region.

6.      Prepare and present annual operating budgets to the Chief Operations Officer.

7.      Monitors financial performance of assigned offices and ensures that assigned offices meet budgetary goals. Preparing monthly reports.

8.      Ensures that assigned offices’ staffing meets budgetary requirements and ensures that assigned offices comply with company standards

9.      Responsible for meeting the clinical goals of the Region.

10.  Responsible for the oversight of overall clinical performance of assigned offices and ensures that staff receive appropriate orientation and ongoing training.

11.  Works with managers to develop positive and productive relationships with employees by recommending, developing and conducting training programs; reviewing proposed decisions and actions.

12.  Monitors the overall care provided by offices. Conducts ongoing supervisory visits to contracted facilities and patient/family homes.

13.  Responsible for maintaining the excellent reputation of PruittHealth and the Community Services Division.

14.  Responsible for the improvement of customer and partner satisfaction scores with each subsequent survey.

15.  Management style must attract partners that support the organization’s Mission, Vision, Customer Service Core Values, and Committed to Caring philosophy.

16.  Ensures that all the Region’s locations are following the PruittHealth Compliance Plan and ensures that all compliance issues are resolved in a timely manner.

17.  Maintains records and oversees human resources practices by documenting incidents and resolutions of problems. Consults with the human resource department when needed and ensure compliance with company HR Policies and Procedures.

18.  Resolves manager and employees’ dissatisfaction by investigations of complaints and concerns; evaluation and offering possible courses of action; providing advice, guidance and direction, participates in the process of monitoring and ensuring employee, customer and community satisfaction.

19.  Develops a coordinated marketing effort to expand our services area and the services offered in the Region.

20.  Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining opinions from legal counsel; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on need actions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

•         Knowledge of Hospice operations, state and federal regulations and compliance.

•         Must be proficient in working with computers, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

•         Able to respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.

•         Oversee the implementation of organization-wide Quality Assurance Performance Improvement.

•         Participates and approves the development and revision of agency policies and procedures.

•         Participates in state and national organizations to ensure Hospice entities remain current with industry standards.

•         Implements partner relations practices necessary to establish a positive partner-employer relationship and promote a high level of partner morale.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Administration or related health care field

Minimum Experience Required

  • Five (5) years of experience in Hospice operations and/or executive management level experience.
