The Senior Manager on the Workplace Investing (WI) and Fidelity Health (FH) Corporate Accounting & Controllership team will have responsibilities for both leading and performing financial reporting activities in support of WI & Healthcare Group entities and working with business and finance partners to ensure accuracy of our financial results. The senior manager will also be focused on streamlining accounting close activities and supporting the team’s various modernization efforts and projects. The WI & FH team is part of the Corporate Accounting & Controllership group which serves as the stewards of our financial information, provides guidance on the financial impact of strategic business initiatives, and seeks to utilize a modernized approach to operate efficiently and effectively in an increasingly complex environment.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA and/or advanced degree preferred

• 8+ years of relevant accounting experience, public accounting and financial services experience a plus

• Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls

• Experience providing coaching, feedback, leadership, and direction to a team as well as training and guiding less experienced team members

• Experience with, or demonstrated ability to learn, complex financial systems and multi-dimensional reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, FFP, PowerBI)

• Experience with clould ERP general ledger, workflow automation tools, robotic process automation, AI/ML a plus

• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines, working both independently and as part of a team to drive work deliverables to completion

• Ability to work closely with finance, accounting, and business partners to ensure transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger

• Ability to provide well written financial commentary on monthly or quarterly results and present these results during financial reporting reviews

• Can coordinate and lead the preparation of financial reports, engage with auditors, and lead our response to audit requests and inquiries

• Ability to identify internal control issues and to recommend solutions or improvements

• Ability to research accounting guidance and apply to areas you are responsible for, which may include new transactions or changes to product offerings

• Can identify operational improvements and recommend changes to existing business and system processes

• Can independently lead special project teams to implement changes while also recognizing the need for help and asking for support when needed

• Experience participating in or leading Accounting or Finance transformation efforts preferred
