Job Purpose

As the Technical Claims Manager with Allianz Direct you will be responsible for achieving better than market performance across the claims function.  You will work closely with claims operational units, fraud, and provider management experts to drive technical excellence in claims, including quality management in claims handling.  You will spend a significant amount of time understanding the underlying data of the company and have a deep understanding of the key performance measures to steer a successful claims unit.  Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the full insurance value chain including senior management, pricing, actuarial, finance, sales, etc. to ensure the claims function is delivering impact in line with the strategic ambition of the company. 

Key responsibilities

• Drive a culture of claims technical excellence across AZ Direct markets, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness goals are steered in line with the company strategic agenda. 

• Ensure effective claims portfolio management through leading the target setting, analysis, and monitoring of operational and financial claims KPIs and trends in alignment with the strategic ambition. 

• Prepare regular reporting on KPIs and trends, including any insights on results and identify where remediation action is required to improve performance. 

• Collaborate with business analytics, operational units and other stakeholders to develop reporting, dashboard and undertake analysis on claims. 

• Quantify the financial impact of claims initiatives and market developments (e.g. inflation) in collaboration with finance and actuarial colleagues as part of the planning processes. 

• Manage key strategic claims technical excellence topics such as Fraud, Provider Management, Recoveries, case reserving adequacy, and more, acting as a key interface between Group Centers and Allianz Direct on claims topics. 

• Stay up-to-date on the latest claims management trends and best practices that apply to digital transformation in the insurance industry. 

Qualifications/Key skills

• Deep knowledge of claims management, including a proven track record for delivering on initiatives that bring value to the organization 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong stakeholder management across different cultures and areas of the organization including senior management 

• Exceptional analytical skills to make good, timely, data driven strategic decisions 

• Strong leadership skills and stakeholder management in a matrix organization, including coaching and developing talent

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for technology-based innovation 

• Takes ownership and shows initiative, leads by example

• Customer obsessed 

Education & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in insurance claims management roles, with cross-market knowledge highly regarded 

• Knowledge of Agile leadership and product development methods a plus 

• Master’s degree in business administration, economics, or a related field 

• Excellent level of English. Other languages a plus, particularly German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and French
