Lead Marketing & Communications for the Y  in the "Snack Food Capital of the World"

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Marketing and Communication Director at the Hanover Area YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing and determined and builds the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact through the development and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies. Additionally, the position promotes comprehensive annual fundraising and membership campaign. Markets the Hanover Area YMCA to the community.

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

2.    Previous professional experience in marketing required.

3.    Excellent personal computer skills and proficient with design software, Microsoft Office and standard business software. 

4.    Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries. 

5.    Must be able to relate to a broad base of individuals including membership, staff, management, Board/Committee members and the community. 

6.    Experience with branding compliances.

Essential Functions

1.    Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan and department-operating budget aligned with business objectives. Monitors and measures the achievement of this plan and budget, taking action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met. 

2.    Creates, produces and distributes program information to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.

3.    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive brand messaging.

4.    Direct market research efforts to identify technologies and insights for informing marketing strategies.

5.    Designs marketing materials according to national YMCA branding guidelines.

6.    Update and manage the Hanover Area YMCA website, Facebook, and other social media accounts.  

7.    Construct and implement all digital signage, advertising and electronic means of communication. 

8.    Establish contacts with media representatives; writes and submits press releases. Maintains files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic).

9.    Develop relationships with service groups, community organizations and area employers to support programs and projects. Make presentations about the YMCA when necessary.

10.  Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team to achieve departmental and company objectives.

11.  Coordinate Association Calendar of events. Attend events and committee meetings as needed.

12.  Performs the duties as assigned by management.
